Bags are packed, ammo is loaded, gun shot in and cleaned. Now ready to go. Leave this Saturday for Colorado.  Really anxious to try out the 200 AB with my 300 RUM.

Don,

We're all pulling for you. For sure, you have the rifle and the load that will do the work for you. I'm wishing you every success.

Elk huntin' is the best!

Pay attention to the guide, don't try to out-do him. If you're on a horse, he could be the best "elk guide" you have. When he stops, just look between his ears and you'll see the elk.

All the best,

Thanks every one for the kind replies. Will submit pics if I get lucky.

Don

Don, that 300RUM is excellent Elk medicine  sure hope we get photos and a good story or two.
Remember have Fun, Shoot straight and most of all be Safe

Blessings,
Dan

Well my day has finally arrived. Leaving for Colorado to seek and destroy a Cow Elk with the 300 RUM, launching the 200 AB. I've read so much about this bullet from our Forum members I just want my own experience too. Really anxious now.

After a tough 2 weeks of stress at work I need some hunting therapy to cure the problem. If you know what I mean!!

Will post results and pics when I return to civilization.

Don

Thanks Dr Mike. Just finalizing my luggage.

Update on the Elk Hunt,
Just got back, had an incredible time and Colorado High Country experience, hunted mostly at 11,600 ft in elevation. Saw lots of Game but no Cow Elk. In speaking to other hunters it seems we all had the same experience. They sure can hide well with so much mountain to do so.

Overall I had an excellent hunt being with Family and Friends.

Don

It is always a bonus to tag an animal; however, just being in the high country is a great experience.

Good luck out there Don! Hope you are able to get on the elk buddy! That 300 is begging for an elk. You have a great load for that rifle, that is for certain..

Just got back on the Forum, could not get on due to all the upgrades. Anyway my Colorado Hunt was just amazing. Although our Hunting Party didn't get any Cow Elk we just had a blast together. I saw everything but Cows. Saw Bull Elk, Moose, Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep, Lynx,
Snowshoe Rabbits and Eagles. I hunted close to 12,000 ft everyday, snow varied from ankle deep to 24". Had some quality time with Family members and Friends I haven't hunted with for years.

Don

Very nice Don! I hope you took some pictures buddy! Sounds like a great hunt to me!

Time spent in the company of family and friends, especially when sharing in mutually enjoyable activities, is always a blessing and a source of encouragement.

Scotty,
I got some awesome pics, Hunted this Burn area that was so tracked up it looked like a Cattle Yard, I've never seen so many tracks in a given area. That was the area we saw three Moose, super Cool too.

I hope to go back next year but it is a draw area and I'm out of points.
