Elk Hunters ?

[300 H&H]

I am using the Remington model 721 300 H&H with a handloaded 200gr. Nosler Partition. The area we are hunting this year shots will be anywhere from 30ft. to max. 200yds. Have a cow tag or spike in the area we are hunting. Hopefuuly the the weather will be elk hunting not hot and dry.

Well my $0.02 are a little late but I would say that with the exception of the 264 Win Mag stoked with 140 PT's the minimum caliber for elk should be 270 WCF with a 150 grain bullet. That being said I prefer at least a 30 caliber rifle for elk. They wound less and kill more. A 338 wouldnt be a bad choice if you can stand the recoil but my 30-06, a 308, or a good 300 Mag are my first choice for elk hunting.
