We are so grateful for the prayers we received from this group, from all of us, thank you. During May my son in law was able to enter a clinical trial in Bethesda Maryland. Initial reports were favorable but the treatment was pretty brutal. Along the way our daughter would call with positive news followed by news of some difficult side effects. Not unexpected but disappointing.
At the end of the trial we learned the lab results showed no positive effect on the cancer and some of the side effects still lingered. The kids returned to the farm and continued standard treatments while attempting to locate another trial my Son would qualify for.
Early July arrived with news of a trial up in Seattle that it appeared he was well suited for and had some could results with rectal cancer. They were to travel there July 14th for interviews and initial testing.
On Sunday the 12th he was life flighted to Oregon Health Science University in Portland. He had developed a massive infection in his leg that required, (think of boning out an elk) his leg to be split open allowing dead tissue to be removed. He has been there since, the daughter as well. Good news over the last two weeks would be followed by bad news. He’s nauseous, can’t eat. Fevers that kind of thing. Hell the last time they opened his leg was two days ago. The last week every other night was the message we might be home soon, followed by news of a complication.
Catherine and I have been taking care of the farm and the Grandaughter and getting the house ready for their return, trying to avoid be overbearing, waiting for instruction. This morning Cat headed to Portland. This afternoon I learned what I expected to be soon, he’ll be coming home soon, entering hospice. Details, ambulance or Life flight home need to be worked out. Portland is 4.5 hours by freeway.
Thank you all for your support on this journey. We could use a few more prayers if you have a couple to spare.

Hospice caretakers are some of the most wonderful people you will ever work with-angels on earth. . . Unfortunate that we require their skills and training. My heart goes out to you and your family-
