I'm in the process of finishing my office/reloading room this winter, and finally made room for my moose mount. I've seen deer euro mounts set with the skull at an angle (making the view of the skull and antlers similar to what you see on a shoulder mount) and liked the appearance, so decided to try the same with my moose. Not sure of the best angles to go with, I put this together with some barn wood I had on hand. Ended up very pleased with the overall look and affect. Will dismantle the stand, soften/sand the edges, and clean it up a bit for re-assembling for the final mount, but am pretty happy with the initial look for the 3 hrs I have invested in it.

Very attractive. That certainly speaks of a hunter's space; it lends a commanding look.

Nice! Love the Euro mounts.

Consider a darker stain on the wood to make the skull stand out. Though, current stain almost matches the antlers.

I like it too. Looks good in the corner and doesn't take up as much wall space.

It might look kind of neat since the wood looks rustic if you could take and slice off some 1/4" thick strips off the stuff you are using and put those strips on the edges so they don't look new. I know you can stain the edges, but I think that or some barn wood strips would be sweet.

Very nice!
I thank you for giving me an idea for when I take a moose. That should be in September.

Yeah, I meant to mention that I'm only a LITTLE jealous of you having a big ol' bull moose trophy... After what must have been a very cool hunt!

Where are you planning on hunting? I can honestly say I've never had more fun hunting than I did when I was moose hunting. I was essentially hunting my backyard, so got to spend a huge amount of time at it -- saw a ton of bulls, played the "spot and stalk" game a bunch of times, and chose NOT to pull the trigger on a lot animals simply because that would end the hunt.

Nice looking bull. Yes moose hunting is a lot of fun, nothing like all of a sudden being close to a bull. If you don't get excited you must be dead
