Factory 45-70 hunting loads

I am looking hard at the HSM 400 Grain Speer load, but although a little pricey the Buffalo Bore 300 and 350 grain Speer load have caught my eye a bit.

My buddy had great results with Hornady's Leverevolution a few years ago when he got his 45-70

very good results of deer up close and down range

Just about anything you can buy will work well on deer AJ, for the hogs, if busting larger ones, I would stick with the heavier constructed jacketed, or hard cast.. Those two should clean out all hogs you encounter.

Any discussion of .45/70 ammo is incomplete without at least mentioning Garrett Cartridges...

Randy has sold the company, but wow... The ammo he built was top notch. I hope his successor holds to the same high standards:

Dinosaur bullets

Eric

Here is what Eric (Orchemo) sent me. 500 grain bullet. If dinosaurs ever pop back up, I know what I am loading up. Really want to see what they would do to some milk jugs...bullets 2.jpg

I have it sitting next to a 7mm 140 grain BT as comparison...

Those are the minimum required for heffalumps, they can be really hard to stop. Tags are limited and only offered in odd years. A min of 45 cal. And 500 grain bullet.
