Factory Shells Leaking Buffering

I have two boxes of factory shells that have small holes in the middle of the star fold crimp and are leaking buffering. I don't have shotshell reloading equipment so I can't uncrimp and crimp them again. I was thinking of ways to seal the shells DIY. Should I use a small piece of tape and stick it over the hole or can I drop a single droplet of hot candle wax so it solidifies and seals the crimp? What would be the best method to avoid a potential pressure spike? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Depending on the hole size a dab of fingernail polish or Elmer’s glue will seal it up.

Well, maybe some of you younger guys never saw or used paper shot gun shells. Federal made them for skeet and trap shooters for many years as a less expensive alternative to the old Winchester and Remington plastic hulled shotshells.

Ahhh got it. Makes sense they would use a paraffin coating on those. I had some made-in-UK Eley Hawk vintage paper shells passed down to me but shot them and didn't pay much attention to the coatings.

I've used a drop of candle wax on some reloads with a gap. I usually shoot them and toss the hull.

I've used Elmer's glue and hoppy paint with a flip up spout just for the convivence of it.
