I am new to reloading and was wondering what your favorite bullets are. So far I have loaded 130gr Nosler BT, 130gr Combined Technology BST, and 130 gr Barnes Triple Shock X-Bullets. All in .270 Winchester. I have had the best luck from the combined technology ballistic silver tips.

Ensure the future of our sport, Take a child hunting!!!!!

I would have to say the Nosler Partition, mainly because where I hunt, I might run into a bear, and the extra penetration might save my life. I've never had to test that theory with a bear, but where I have used it, it's never let me down. The ones I buy for handloading, are much slicker than the older ones I tried back in the 60s, and the newer ones have been as accurate as anything else I've tried.

I love the accubonds. So far they really kicked a$$ for me.

I would have to say a 130gr NPT would be my choice! There isn't anything this bullet is limited to. A one load rifle is always a good thing.

I'd have to vote for Nosler's .30 caliber, 155 grain HPBT competition bullets. For match shooting anyway.

Shoot a couple of thousand of them every year - so they must be my favorite!

For hunting, I'm a sucker for heavy partitions, like 175's in 7mm, and 200's in any of the .30 cal magnums. Need to try some Accubonds though - I keep reading and hearing good things about them.

One bit of advice for any new hand loader - figure out what bullet you'd like to shoot - see if you can work up an accurate load with it - and stick with that load! Having a couple of hundred cartridges all loaded up for hunting and ready to go is great. A fellow can just pick up a box and go practice with the same load he's taking hunting. You get to know exactly how much holdover or hold-off is required at different ranges and conditions because you're not always playing around with three or four different loads for the same hunting rifle.

I vastly prefer to have one load for each hunting rifle - and to learn it well.

Regards, Guy

You didn't put my "favorite" as an option, but of the options you gave I would take the .270 Winchester loaded with a 140 grain Nosler AccuBond. I don't think you could go wrong with that, and if you happen to have an elk or bear (black) on the menu, I wouldn't hesitate to use that load. It wouldn't be my first choice for elk, but I certainly wouldn't stay home if it was all I had :p

FWIW, my nephew just put down an antelope with that very combination two weeks ago. Worked perfectly.

As POP would say, "Noslers Rock"

 Oh yeah - favorite deer cartridge - the .25-06! Little recoil. Flat trajectory. Accurate and lethal... I like it! Guy

I just got a couple of boxes of 140 grain accubonds to test later this year.
I hope they and my 270winny get along, as it sounds like a great bullet.

Thanks for all the feedback. Where I hunt most shots are under 100 yards occasionaly I will get one a 150 or 200 but very rarely. I was thinking of loading some 140 ACCU BONDS, but I ran out of money. 8)

p.s. what is your favirite (300winnie)

The Nosler Partition.Big or small it covers them all.Plus I find with my rifles they are easy to make to shoot well.60 years and countless animals the Partition ranks write up there with most of the newer offerings.IMHO.

200 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip for my 338 Win Mag
180 grain Hornady BTSP Interlock for my 300 Win Mag
150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip for my 280 Remington
155 grain Lapua Scenar for my 308

From your poll list, I chose the 30-06. I have killed many WT deer with 180 gr SPCL and 150 gr PT's. I have used other calibers to hunt but have always chosen the PT if it was available. In recent years, I have used the BT with excellent results. They drop deer fast.
This year I will be hunting with my 280 AI, 160 gr AB in Nosler brass.
