What is it and how did you outfit it?

Load bullet scope etc.

My long range hunting rig is a remington 700 custom in 300 rum. I did a bit of action lightening, extended wyat mag box, fluted shilen barrel, nitrided and put in a high tech specialties stock. Topped with a leupold 3.5-10 vx3 lighted reticle 30mm scope in talley lightweight rings. Wieghts right at 7 pounds 11 ounces slung and loaded.

Will do 3 shot sub moa out as far as I've shot it, 600 meters. Shooting 168gr Ttsx @ 3340fps. Longest kill was a good sized Blackbear at 325 yards. That rifle and load has killed 4 bears, 3 moose, 2 caribou, and 4 whitetails. Even went stem to stern on a bull moose 5+ feet of penetration!

Remington 7mm STW, action squared, and trued, Lilja 26 inch barrel, HS precision stock. Leupy 3.5X10X40, Talley mounts, Harris Bipod, Longest kill with this rifle 330, longest Elk kill to date 540.

I don't have a favorite.. I have three....

My 264 Win Mag - currently has a 2-10 Minox on it - 140 BT/AB's at 3190FPS

My 270 WSM - 3.5x10 Leupold VX3 - 150 BT/PT's at 3130FPS

And finally, the 7mm WSM with a 2-10 Minox - 160 AB's at 3100FPS

My longest shot so far on big game with any of them is the 270WSM with 140 AB's at around 325.

Savage 110
.243 Winchester
87gr V-Max
40.0grs imr4350

Ellite 3200 10x40 Mil-Dot

always under .5" @ 100yds, I have shot it out to 620yds and it holds up very well even though I suck at reading the wind.

This is the 1st rifle I bought with my own money in 1992, I was 13yrs old. I shot it and shot and then just put it up to collect dust in the safe. I decided to build something for long range paper punching and started to sell it off, a friend talked me out of it. I was going to rebarrel, the same friend talked me out of it. I floated the barrel, reinforced the factory stock, tuned the trigger, installed a base, lapped some rings and set out to prove to him that the gun wasn't worth keeping....... I am glad he talked me into keeping as is.

338 RUM
Dakota 97 controlled round feed action
HS Precision stock camo dipped
Brux 26" #5 contour barrel w/integral muzzle brake
Kahles 4x12x52 Multi Zero
Talley bases and rings
225 gr TTSX @3100 fps

Woods, that is a hammer right there buddy! Wow, what a set up.

Heath, that is the sorta rifle I could have a ton of fun with. I am running the 105 AMax's in my son's 243 M700 and it is very slick. Need to get a decent scope on it, but it shoots them pretty well.

I wish mine wasn't twisted @ 10" or the 105's would be my bullet. The 87's are pretty awesome though, I was shooting the 70gr SBK @ 3400fps but the 87's do much better.

If you have never used the Elites they are really good scopes. I had a 4-16x42 4200 series that tracked prefectly 100% of the time and my 3200 10x40 has tracked prefectly 100% of the time also. I am a Leupold guy but I really like the 10x40 for targets.

I will keep my eyes peeled, thank's Heath.

Yeah, the little Remington is a 9.5" twist, and runs them 105's out around 2950 so it really mimicks just about all my regular hunting rifles, so it makes for a great rifle to practice with, with cheap bullets and much less powder. Just has a 4X Leupold on it now, so I need something I can stretch it with.

My favorite:
300 Weatherby Mark V
Near Manufacturing One piece Alpha scope mount
Swarovski Z5 5-25 with 52mm objective len and a ballistic turret

I can't wait to get my hands on the new 190 grain AccuBond long range bullets!

Larry, that is one GREAT set up you have right there! Man, it looks all business for sure. I imagine the 190's will be magic in that rifle.

What I consider my long range rig is my Rem 700 in .338RUM. It wears a Zeiss 1.5X6 Diavari, Warne bases and rings, a MacMillan stock and believe it or not a 26 inch stock barrel. Trigger is set at 2.5lbs and is stock. The firing pin is a Tubbs and is excellent. With 225 grain bullets, 84 grains of IMR4350, Rem case and a Fed 215M primer It will shoot minute of angle out to 600 yards although for hunting purposes I limit myself to roughlly 300 yards. It's a great wind bucker and works very well for its intended purpose.

My longrange remotecontrol is a pre-64 win customrifle done in .270wea.
27" Lilja barrel, jewell trigger, Recknagel G9 scopemounts, Zeiss Conquest 5-20x50 scope.
Longest kill: aprox 360meters on spring buck in SA.

Here's my baby. .300 Win. Mag. built by Truman Wilson. Specs are as follows:

Remington 700 Action
28" 1-10" Hart Barrel
McMillan A3 stock
Jewell Trigger
DE Muzzle Brake
Tubb's Recoil Rug
Nesika 20 MOA Bases
Kelbly Rings
LimbSaver Pad
Leupold VX-III 6.5-20x40mm EFR

It runs the 210 Berger at 2,940 fps and shoots them extremely well. The picture is of a 14" gong that I shot at 1,020 yards. THe elk is my brothers that he shot at 157 yards with 'Thumper'. I'm having the twin brother of this rifle built right now, it's chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua! I will post pics when I get it! Longest kill with this rifle was a coyote at 883 yards.

...well, "Long Range" being relative...

...Win. Mod. 70, .325 WSM/ Nikon 4.5X14 Buckmaster, originally purchased as a "brush gun", it consistently holds well under MOA @ 500M w/ 220gr. SBTGK's @ 2800fpsMV, still delivers enough vel/ energy to be confident out to 800+, drop consistent w/ a .300, less wind drift, uses about 15-20% less powder than a .338 WM, but doesn't give up much, & it's pretty comfortable to shoot. Hopefully "upgrading" the optics this summer...
