Favourite Firearms?

not just my 1st, but my favorites as well!

bolt rifle (and only bolt action type) is a pre64 ('61 model) 264wm (my dad's 1st purchase from hs graduation) i started shooting in '76 @ 11yo.
1st revolver ('84) 629 44mag
1st semi pistol s/w mod1 core 4.25" ported 9mm
1st ar was a s/w viking tactics 5.56
i've only shot 1 ss firearm ever and that was a 410 (no idea what brand it is or what year it was made)
I forgot the lever!

I'd say the sbl in 45-70 is my favorite fir 4 reasons.
1st was buying a ticket from my cousin's daughter for a 4h raffle
2nd was winning it
3rd was family input on which cartridge to get it in
4th was having a blast shooting it!

I have leverguns from Winchester, Marlin and Savage and I like and appreciate them all. Each design is slightly different for sure.

The Winchester 1892 .25-20 WCF and the Marlin 39A .22 LR far and away see the most use. But all of them are super fun to shoot. I guess I will have to say that I simply can’t pick a favorite and that I love leverguns. I will be adding more of these as I can too!

Its a lot to think about so i am just going to hit on the center fire rifles.
I think my favorite factory bolt rifle would be my Sako 85's, they check all the boxes i want in a hunting rifle, handl3 well, very accurate, reliable, good trigger, flush detachable magazine, and a 3 position type safety that locks the bolt.
Single shot would be the Ruger no. 1, though the first rifle i bought was a H&R topper handy rifle.
Lever action all i have are Winchesters and i have to go with the model 94, second rifle I bought, killed several deer, fun and inexpensive to shoot(at the time), i really need to get that one out of the safe and to the field
No pumps, semi auto is the mini-14 im just not a black gun guy

It's funny as I read all of these great posts to this thread, that I stop and realize that while I have my favourite makes and models...if I am being truly honest, I would say my favourite firearm, at any point in time, is the one that I am having fun carrying, shooting tiny groups with, and taking game with on a new memorable adventure!

This is my favorite...I know this is going to shock all of you :)
Remington XP-100
From pd's to the largest African plains game.
LR tactical matches and 1,000 yard BR matches.
Hunting at night with thermal in both rear and center grip designs.

Oh yeah, I like other guns too!
Ernie,
Do you prefer the center grip or rear grip models?
Always wondered about the pros and cons to each...handling vs function...

Hard to pick one but as of lately I've been really enjoying the Sauer 100 and 101 models. Have them in 6.5x55, 8x57, and 9.3x62
Really like the ergonomics on them and longer LOP.

A few of my Mauser's are also top picks. I tend to rotate between them depending on weather or what I'm hunting, and early/late season.

I like the center-grip for balance aspect better, and it just looks cool.
For big game hunting I prefer center-grip.
I like the rear grip for seeing impacts better.
The way I do night hunting, a rear grip is advantageous off of a tripod and a Game Changer bag
I like rear grip for shooting off of a bench better and also when using a front rest.

Favorite firearms? Probably all of them.
Rifles? Single shot? Ruger #1 in .300 Win Mag.
Bolt action? Just about anything based on the 98 Mauser. Currently a1909 Argentine Mauser custom with DWM
Mauser action, caliber .280 Rem. Metal work by Randy Lawson and stock by Sterling Davenport.
Lever action? M94 Winchester made in 1911. Took my first ever deer with it back in 1949 as age 11.
Hand gun? Colt 1911 .45 AP for self defense.
Colt single action army for fun. .45 colt of course.
Shotgun? Nothing really strikes my fancy. I bought a nice Ithaca over/under 20 Ga. many long years ago and never have
shot the thing. Bought it to hunt quail but in my neck of the desert if you don't have a good dog you're S.O.L.
