My Dad and I have been hunting antelope hard since the season opened on the 8th. Last weekend we got on a heard while my girlfriend was with us but it didnt work out. Last night was the same story. Found a heard and they spooked. This morning we found a herd and snuck to 360 yards before we ran out of concealment. We both shot at the heard and dad missed clean. My shot was less than ideal on my buck but we ended up catching up with him. When we found him, he was trotting quartering away and I hit him about mid ribs and the bullet exited right behind his off shoulder. Took out his lungs and spine and he dropped like a lightning bolt hit him.
He isnt the biggest buck by any means but one of the biggest we have seen in this area. There just arent alot of antelope so I decided to not be picky. Made some awesome memories with my Dad and the only thing that would have made it better is if he would have laid one down too. I cant remember the last time Dad saw me kill an animal so this was a special one that we wont soon forget!

I was shooting my Rem 700 ADL 243 Win with 95gr Btips
Dad was shooting a tang safety Ruger 77 25-06 with 100gr Btips

I measured him at 11" on one side and 11.5" on the other.

Nice speed goat...everyone I have talked to hnting in Montana has said they are hard to find this year.

Congratulations on making some excellent memories with your Dad. You can be certain that he will treasure the time spent with you. That is a fine looking 'lope.

Congrats on the terrific father - son hunt! Great stuff right there for both of you. Frame that photo of the two of you with the pronghorn - it will make a great present for him!

I've heard that the winter kill on pronghorn in particular, and mule deer as well, was pretty brutal, leaving the herd diminished.

Great hunt DT! Sounds like a good trip with your Dad. Hopefully he can get back out to hunt with you. Scotty

Awesome! Congratulations on a successful hunt and a very nice antelope! Hopefully your dad will get one the next time.

Good story and nice buck. I LOVE them 'lopers!!

I'm looking forward to hunting 'em w/ my son again next October...

Congratulations on a very nice antelope. He's a good representative buck and sharing the hunt with your dad is priceless. From experience I can tell you that these memories will become more important than any aspect of the trophy.
