First 338/375R Range Report!!

I sure hope so!

I played a bit with 7828, it showed promise as well. I might have to revisit it if H1000 doesn't pan out. I can't get 7828 SSC anyplace, but I have two pounds of 7828.

I have been following this thread. I think the IMR7828 should pan out for you. One thing for sure when you hit something using that rifle at the velocities you are getting it won't be going anywhere. Sometimes it takes a lot of work for a rifle and load to get right and also some barrels at least 200 rounds before it really starts to come in. Keep up the good work, and I know I will keep reading this thread.

Looks great Jake. I think if you run a seating depth profile with H1000 you'll find what your looking for buddy. 2900 with a 225 is serious power. I'm hoping you run some Nosler 250's buddy in that rifle. Thinking it would be a hammer that would really be awesome for elk in the Timber and for a poor elk standing at 600 as well!

Well seating them a little deeper didn't do me any favors. Going to clean the rifle and resize all my brass then try the first load and go a little closer. I may as well try fine tuning some 7828 while I'm at it.

I have not found that seating bullets long in the magnum cases with 225 grain and 25o gr Partions has yielded better accuracy. I seem to get my best accuracy with those two .338 bullets at about factory recommended COAL. FWIW.

Maybe there's a point where they will shape up Jake. Meaning it might want a longer jump to the rifling. Especially the ABs. I've seen them shoot really well .070-.100 off sort of like a mono.

Yes Scotty, he needs to give it a longer jump, hunting bullets like the Partition and especially the AccuBond need a jump.

Give it a whirl. I don't think you'll be disappointed Jake. I'm thinking something may pop out.
