neighbors told the mother-in-law that the coyotes were between their house & calf barn last night so tonight after feeding calves I took out my fox pro scorpion and my kill lights
started out across the road and after watching a doe for a bit the coyotes got a bit wound up behind me on the other side of the road so took a hike and found that one of the cows had just freshened
wasn't real wild about calling right beside a fresh cow didn't want to drag the coyotes in closer
I moved up the hill a bit trying to draw them up higher, got a bark response at one point which got me excited but then decided had to pack it up
checked on the cow and calf, started walking back towards the barn and some of the other cows got restless and i heard an odd sound so I crawled under the fences and went on the prowl
mother cow was wrestles, other 6 cows in that pasture were grouped tight and there was 1 more set of eyes
I had the fox pro in my pocket playing softly as I walked straight at the coyote until I could close the distance enough to verify it was a coyote
shot once, takes off right to left stumbling pretty good shot a second time and it started out over the hill
under one more fence and then just slowly searching for signs (hard to find any blood with a red light  ) but then I had eyes right below me so I started at it put another one in from a distance since I didn't want it making it into the woods wounded.... not 100% sure if I connected on shots 2 & 3 that third shot had a lot of adrenaline and the second one was just a tough shot on the run in the dark
shot 4 just in the edge of the woods finished the job
i'm 99% sure the first shot did the job and the coyote would've been done had I left it sit a bit seeing as when I caught up it was laying in the field...but i'm a firm believer in shoot till it doesn't move
no pretty 1 shot drop story, no called right in ontop of the call and leveled.... but i'm still pretty psyched first coyote and first animal connected with my first handloads
hopefully run out sometime tomorrow to take a few pics and inspect everything
