The special prices sound like a super deal to me, but who has experience using them on paper or critters? I'm tempted to try some 150's in my '06 for whitetail and mule deer/antelope hunting. The bullet design looks kinda like a gameking or speer btsp to me. I think I'm too young to remember the original flatbase bullets. Started my loading days with partitions and ballistic tips were brand new in the early 90's.

You mean Nosler's "solid base" ???

Darned fine bullet. I used 'em a fair amount in the 1980's and remember actually getting frustrated when Nosler came out with some new-fangled plastic tip thing and got rid of "my" solid base bullets. They were very good.

If you mean "flat base" as in no boat-tail. Heck yes, there's a lot of good ones avail.

Regards, Guy

You'll often see better accuracy under 300yds w/ flat base bullets. 150gr NP would be my choice as an all round deer/antelope bullet. Second place would go to the Speer GS, then Hornady IL.

Use the 165s, I feel it is a better bullet for the 06 and deer. Work up a load using IMR or H-4350. I think you will be well satisifed with the results.Rick.

165gr Nosler Solid Base fired in 06 RP case,58gr of IMR 4831,CCI Large Rifle Primer 5 shots in 7/16 inch at 100 yards.Rifle pre 72 Sako Finnbear fully bedded and tuned. My WW2 veteran friends told me when I was just starting out reloading that the best all around bullet for the 06 is the 165gr,I have a friend who uses 165gr Nosler Solid Base bullets lit off by IMR 4831 in his 300 Weatherby for mule deer ,black bear and elk.

The Solid Base bullets are excellent for deer sized game. Glad to see Nosler bring them back.

Flat Base, I bought some Nosler Flat base "Shots" bullets, 22 cal 50 gr SP. These bullets are offered to the Australian market and are popular for shooting Kangraroos. I loaded up some for my 22-250 and shot a 3 shot group at 100 yds that measured .184"!
