With the thread about a 338WM and 230FS velocities, I notice a weird difference between the #5 and #6 manuals for the 338WM and 225gn recipes. Both manuals use the same barrel maker, length and twist as well as the same primer ans brass maker. The differences are:

The #5 manual lists 2832 fps with a max of 72.5gn of RL-19, load density of 95%.

The #6 manual lists 2782 fps with a max of 74gn of RL-19, load density of 105% (compressed)

Both are still marked as most accurate load. :?: :?: :?: :?:

With each new book, we re-shoot a lot of the data using new pressure testing equipment. A possible explanation for the different velocity would be a different powder lot (just a thought).

Also, the book 5 load density was based on water-weight but the book 6 density is by volume. That's what gives you the different numbers.

Hope that helps!
