Anybody know anything about these rifles, I haven't read too much bad about them, not a lot out there either, they are super lightweight, have shaw barrels. If you know anything please fill us in or me anyway. Thanks
They are a great concept but as of now there have been a lot of major quality control issues reported such as failure to feed, eject, poor accuracy, poor bedding and things like that. Some have had great guns out of the box and would expect that they will straighten things out soon. Looking the gun over very well before buying would be a good idea.
The older ones were good, after he got involved with Colt not so much. Then he brought out another Company NULA and they were no longer built one at a time and once again the quality wasn't there, again. He tried to do mass market and that's not anything like what the first Mel Forbes ULA were like built in his own shop.
I am working my toward buying a Forbes 24B. They have outstanding accuracy and are quite light. Those two things usually don't go together, but Forbes rifles are the exception. I spoke with Melvin Forbes about these rifles a few years ago and I was impressed with what he said concerning their manufacturing processes, barrels and stocks. About the only question left is what scope to put on it. I'm looking at a Meopta and a Zeiss. More later....
