Went to the range to shoot this 50cal that had belonged to departed friend whose been gone 11 years next month. I bought it about 8 years ago. Killed a deer then put it up. Gotten older, cataracts and hard to see open sights just kinda lost interest. Decided to open up rear sight and with new glasses was able to keep it minute of deer at 75yds. Hope to take it during our heritage season January 9-12. It has a 38 inch Getz 7/8 straight barrel, Walter Cain single set trigger, large Siler lock, iron trim with curly maple stock. He had it stained dark like a buckeye. Also got to try out the Garmin with the muzzle loader. Had wondered what velocity was. 80grs 3F Goex .490 ball and patch.

Here is the deer I shot when first got this rifle. Ron had named his rifle Holley. The deer dropped next to this holley tree. Was that great or what?
Dan.

Well, the weather changed my hunting plans. Unseasonably cold, snow and ice with power outages (thankfully not us) so I decided to stay home. Was going to drive to the upper part of the state to hunt with relatives and some of them felt the same way. Maybe next year.
