Took out a Prairie Dog today with the GAP 260 Remington.

Took two shots to the body just to verify the range (Dope), U- 1.7 Mils. The wind was blowing around all different directions 2-3 mph with gusts to 5 mph from behind me. I reduced the dope 1/10 of a Mil and waited a minute for the wind to settle down. I then proceeded to put three to the head of the Steel Prairie Dog.

Although hard to tell looking at it, but these 3 shots basically went into the same place plus or minus 1/4"!!! Might not seem like much but this was at 375 yards. Wish I had that on a paper target but Oh well!

Man I love this Gun!

Thanks Guys,

I'm getting excited for the Sniper's Hide Cup this month down in Colorado, I actually might do well? Although field shooting and these types of Match's are two different things. Oh, plus side arm.

I'll also be headed down to the Steel Safari two weeks later.

Cole that is some real fine shooting!! That rifle will do you well no matter what you are going to do with it :). Hunting or targets it is a tack driver.

Blessings,
Dan

What have you got sitting atop your .260 for glass? Finding a scope to match the versatility of that cartridge can be a challenge. Was definitely a beautiful day to be out in N. Idaho today. (Nice shooting by the way...)

It's a Kahles K312 Tactical scope. 3-12x50, 34mm tube, Mil-Dot 2 reticle w/ CCW Dbl. turn 1/10 Mrad turrets. Great glass, tracks perfectly and as good as a any Schmidt & Bender PMII.

Nice scope! What do you think of that particular reticle in the FFP for a "do everything" rifle, from deer in dark timber at dusk to long range target shooting??? Is this reticle still pretty visible in lousy light at low magnification???

I like the reticle because it's simple to use, works quickly to measure POI shifts, it even has a built in ranging scale in the bottom half of the scope, which you'll never notice it's even there frankly. But I use a range finder so unless that wasn't working you at least have that as a option and/or the mil scale formula to range.

As far as light gathering on low power during low light that's really a matter of opinion, and how dark are you wanting to still see well enough to shoot? I don't hunt any more during those last minutes of light so I'm not here to say?
