Which game or trail camera would you guys recommend? I need some with good range and long battery life. Planning to set one up in the high desert.

Thanks,

Larry

my wife got me a wildgame innovations camera, it seems to have good battery life.

I don't hang it up a lot but I feel it does a bit better than the Primos camera my sibilings & I got my father a couple years ago. Although primos does have EXCELLENT customer service, figured out dad's first camera wasn't working contacted the company sent it in and got a newer one in return which is working fine. Might also be the difference between where/how dad & I hang ours for difference in pics.

the only problem you might encounter with the wildgame is the unit I have doesn't like cold weather, I think 20/30degrees is t he lower limit of where it's happy, but when it warms up it's right back to normal. So might not get as many night pics in the high desert

We had problems at the Veterans Memorial site, with vandals setting fire to the American flag there.

A CuddyBak (sp) trail camera was placed nearby and caught 'em!

That's a great use for them!

I run 5 of the Bushnell HD's. Great battery life and good pictures or movies as well.

I have the Leupold RCX2 camera. Great camera and super long battery life.

I just purchased a new Primos HD 35 Ultra. I took it home, installed the batteries, installed the SD card, and set it on the kitchen counter top with a "3 shot burst" setting. I then told the 2 older kids to walk through the kitchen. It snapped them walking by. Cool I thought. Took it outside and hung it on the fence to see how the pics were in the dark and...... NADA. In three days it never took another picture. I tried everything and it turned on, said it was ready to go, then never snapped a pic again.

I took it back Sunday and got my money back. The HD35 has pretty good reviews too so maybe I just got a dud.

I had a wildgame innovations and it worked very very well until someone stole it....

We had a couple taken from our family land last year. We found them later at the local pawn shop. I had them inscribed so they could be identified .

I've used four brands and for the money would buy cuddeback. I simply can't afford the more expensive brands or I would love to try them. Buy an upper end moultrie and I think you will be surprised. Theft is the biggest problem I have had. I always buy locks and bear boxes and format the sd cards where possible. It's a lot of fun and good off season exercise but cameras are fickle and it really stinks when you hike an hour to a secluded elk wallow and your camera has been hacked off the tree with a hatchet. . .
