I can not leave well enough alone. I am a masochist at heart I guess. Anyway got a nice 8mm Rem Mag coming. This will be my fourth one . I owned 3 in the past but was left somewhat unsatisfied. Anyway we will see. She will be wearing a Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x42mm. Should be here this week.

I enjoyed my 8 but got frustrated by the lack of good bullets. Turned it into a 338 Jarrett. Still killing elk some 20 years later. It remains however one of the projects, if I could go back in time, I would not have done. The big 8 punched way above it’s weight class.
I agree. I ordered 220 Sierras and 200 gr Accubonds. No LRX made for the big 8 and the TTSX is only available in 160 gr guise. There is this available though!

Now if they produce that with a tip like they have been doing with the rest of the calibers..........

Just talked to Steve Davis at Hammer bullets and he said the tipped 8 mm bullets are in the works but no completion date yet ........that's perfect over .500 BC and that thing will not come apart and kills like lightning

Maybe he can send you some prototypes to try out this fall.

In the works sir: BTW they always go faster than other bullets of similar weight...... way less pressure due to the grooves. Just to give you an idea...
6.5x300 Bee 88 gr of RL33 yields 3555 fps with the 127 LRX the same charge yields 3420 fps with the 123 gr Absolute Hammer.

I have always wanted one of them myself and I remember through the years you have had a few of them. Pretty big medicine for stuff at sane ranges. The Hammers shoot real well and like you said, they’re fast as heck.

Looking forward to seeing how you make out.

Yes it is available from Aguila.

I've never really heard of the factory version BDL and Classics shooting very very well in the big eight so I have been looking for aftermarket barrels just in case. It seems the only people who make them is Shilen McGowan Douglas Lothar Walther fand then panor and Lilja. Any input is welcome I put a similar thread and 24-hour and they suggested either pac nor or lilja.

Fotis,
You can't go wrong with a Lilja barrel.
Also look at Twisted Barrel for fluting.
