Good bye Colorado

Looks like Magpul is leaving Colorado. Hopefully they will stop selling to law enforcent in CO as well as NY.

Good bye, MagPul. One can only wonder how many other gun manufacturers and related firms will leave Colorado. Of course, it won't matter to Democrats since they will now have created Paradise.

Colorado has been taken over by the ski bunnies and bums. Mindlessly partying their way to oblivion! Too bad for all of the people who will lose their jobs and the regular people who hunt and fish in Colorado for enjoyment.

Well, I suspect we as hunters could immediately impact the state budget in CO, starting this year. I was actually considering it as a potential destination for a mule deer or elk hunt, but no more. Only through the checkbook can we as a free people demonstrate our full disgust of this mess. A quick google search says hunting represents $470M in retail sales in Colorado, and a total of ~$952M in total economic effect. That's roughly $1B of economic impact we, as hunters, could deny the state of CO if we chose. Heck, just the tax base alone is nearly $50M for the state (sales and income) and another $50M for the feds. That's a $100M hit to the tax coffers. I bet that would grab some attention pretty dadgum quick.

Moreover, ungulate herds would grow dramatically, which has to impress the tree huggers, especially when the animals quickly overpopulate and die off from starvation, disease and auto crashes. I believe you are correct, dubyam. There are other states close to Colorado with opportunities to hunt.

As a hunter Colorado is dead to me now.
I'll go to WY, MT, or ID over Colofornia. I said as much to the politicians there and encourage all hunters that respect and love freedom to do the same.

From MagPul

The Governor's office is still tallying emails for and against the gun bills that have been passed, in order to inform Governor Hickenlooper of public opinion on whether they should be signed into law or not. Let him know that they should not!

Use the contact form at http://www.colorado.gov/govhdir/request ... n-leg.html to register your disagreement with HB1224 and the other gun bills. Please keep your message brief, polite, and to the point that you oppose HB1224 and all other anti-gun legislation, and urge the governor to VETO these bills.

It's not too late yet, I think everyone should let Governor Hickenlooper exactly how they feel about this issue. I'm also fairly certain they haven't budgeted for all of the overtime for the police trying to enforce these dumb laws.

Everyone is welcome here!

Not too far away from Erie Colorado!

I'm sure that would put a thorn in CO's side too. I'm also sure Texas and Idaho would take them in a heartbeat.

I'm reasonably certain that your assessment is correct.

...more than likely the Dems attitude towards their constituents includes the Gov. "The people who elected them don't matter, only the 'Party Line' matters"...

What is doubly aggravating is that this critter appeals to Abraham Lincoln for justification for his attitude of disdain for the little people, who happened to elect him.

Pretty sure our new senator , Ted Cruz already sent a letter to the folks at Magpul telling them they would be welcome here.

I moved to Colorado 35 years ago for the hunting and fishing. I lived in the mountains out of The People's Republic for years and when I retired in 1999 I wanted to move to WY, but the little woman wanted to stay close to the daughter. Colorado was more right until a few years ago when Californikators started moving in. Now it is just awful politically. Fishing and hunting are still good except for the lottery system of getting a moose, big horn sheep or goat (stupid system...I'm almost too old to climb the mountains for them, but many who draw are only on their 4th draw attempt...BAD BAD system!!!)

Well, I am now looking seriously at getting a small place in WY and one on the coast of TX and selling my nice place in Colorado which should pay for both new ones. Californian's destroyed property values in Colorado as well by buying a house, dozing it and building a monolith.

I have sent so many emails to the governor (last two came back. Guess he got tired of me) and all of congress trying to get them to understand a gun doesn't kill...evil people do. Punish the evil people not those of us who are law abiding citizens. Useless waist of time. They have no clue why and no interest in finding out why James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, etc created the 2nd amendment.

A good friend of mine works as a draftsman at Magpul. She is just a little upset that her job might be going away. She and her husband are looking at moving to TX.

The state will lose $85 million by getting Magpul out of the state; 200 direct employees and as many as 400 indirect employees. Taxes will go up just to cover that. Who knows what all else.

You can send emails to every congressman, but they only reply that their "common sense" tells them to eliminate guns. I keep asking them to look at that "common sense" where it is used such as Chicago, NYC and Washington DC. Great examples of "safe zones" with no guns...everyone will get killed by criminals who aren't going to abide by the law anyway.

Now Colorado has a bill those inept congressmen are going to pass eliminating the death penalty. Not the most intelligent people in the state.

Sorry for my ranting. I'm just trying to figure out what to do and how to keep my family as close as possible.

It is hard not to rant when the idiots are running (ruining(?)) the country.

I just saw that Outdoor Channel has also said they will move all their productions out of Colorado if the laws are signed in.

Magpul can move to Texas any time. We have a large plastics industry here, a willing labor force, and a business friendly atmosphere.

DrMike, Weld Cty is the largest in Colorado. Greeley is the largest community. Burris scopes and Stiener marketing are based in Greeley. They are both owned by Beretta. I will be very surprised if the Beretta family doesn't move them out of state just as they did the pistol manufacturing from Massachusetts to (I think it was) North Carolina.
