my grandads rifle,, a 32 long rimfire, wish I could get ammo
NCAwesome story, congrats!! What state are you hunting in?
The mount looks excellent. Another huge congrats!
Fun facts:Great story and great buck! Mod 700 rifles have been my Lifetime Favorite too! A long time ago, back in SE Texas, I also went to the 165 on the 30-06, I felt it ruined less meat than the 150 corlokt. Long before I read it in gun magazines, I accidently "discovered" that 58hr Of IMR 4350/any 165 shot well in any 30-06...or it wasn't "a shooter". Later, I went to H4350, may have to tweak a half grain either way. I personally think the '06 "balances better" with the 165. But the old warhorse is a Holy Terror with the 200-220 on big hogs/elk size critters.
P.S. All the "big, red " Sweet Potatoes out here in Sandy, UT restaurants I have found come from NC! lol
Try some of the gun part places and see if you can find a breech block, either rim fire or centerfire. Any decent gunsmith and close up the firing pin hole and convert to center fire. You can switch to shoot center fir .32short and langs yer have the breech block to restore the rifle to original.![]()
