Grizzly bear

This poor guy had a bad run-in with a vehicle and lost. I sure don't like seeing a deer or any animal hit on the highways and go to waste. I was told that they estimated this big guy weighed over 600 pounds. He sure is a solid black color for a grizzly bear. This happened on Highway 83 about 60 miles north of Missoula.

The black colour phase is somewhat common around Prince George, here in British Columbia. He does have a nice pelt.

What damage did the hit do to the vehicle?

Wow! I've never seen such a black grizzly! Awesome. I hope the hide is being preserved... If not, solicit funds. I'll chip in.

The bear may have lost, but at 600 pounds I'm guessing the vehicle owner doesn't really chalk it up as a win...

Yeah he is pretty darn neat looking that dark color. It is a shame as he's obviously been around a lot of years and has kept out of trouble and away from folks. They sure are beautiful animals.

I imagine if the hide was not torn up to badly that they will try and mount him or rug him for a school or something.

It bothers me to see any animal taken by vehicle collision, but as usual I learn something from a post .
I never realized that the Grizzles had that variance of colour phases :shock:.
