I have used Hoppes for years cuz that just what you used.

What are others using? Is there something better?

Currently I'm using the Hoppes 9 Bench Rest copper solvent.

I use Shooters Choice MC#7 solvent, Sweets 7.62 Copper Solvent, and Rem Oil.

I use Hoppe's #9, Shooter's Choice, Break-Free foaming bore cleaner, Birchwood-Casey Foaming bore cleaner, Hoppe's gun oil, Rem-Oil, Rem-Dry-Lube, and Birchwood-Casey Barricade. Be careful with the foaming cleaners, as they are great cleaners, and will remove copper you didn't even know was there, but you need to oil about three good times afterward to protect the bore, as these cleaners get everything out of the pores, oil and all, leaving a bare bore, exposed to oxidation.

I use Hoppe's #9 for powder residue, followed by wipe-out bore cleaner or Barnes CR-10 for copper removal.

I am a firm believer in using a foam product called WipeOut. It is ESCELLENT!!! Removes copper fouling, residue and anything else in the bore. Clean and easy to use. I wont use anything else after using this product.
