Zero range Red Dot Turkey Guns

I can’t wait until April 19 which is opening morning of turkey season here. We can only hunt until noon for the first week of season. Which is nice. I putter around camp the second half of the day, or coyote hunt.

I’ve tried the red dot and didn’t mind it. It worked fine. Ended up putting a high viz Truglow sight on it. For me it works very well. Good luck to you both this season.

Howie,
That's how I do it.
Hopefully I will get Sue's Franchi Affinity 20 ga zeroed in within the next few days. I got her a Vortex Viper red dot with the selectable reticle.
It mounts directly to the drilled and tapped receiver.

I couldn’t get a smith to drill and tap mine in time, so I took it apart and one of the machinists at work walked me through it on his lunch break. The duct tape was for vice protection.

Been there done that on my little H&R 410. The red dot is a huge improvement over a bead in my opinion.
My old eyes are getting bad and when I get on the shotgun the bead just turns into a fuzzy halo. Fiber optics sights worked OK, but I think this red dot is going to be the answer. Haven’t shot it, but just looking through it , it’s MUCH better.

I’ve got a cataract starting in my right eye. It’s not going to be long until the Trueglow gets replaced with a red dot. Thinking about having surgery to fix it but not sure. Getting older sucks. I don’t feel older but things just wear out I suppose. Regardless I’m really looking forward to the 19th. Spring camping is great, and spring camping while turkey hunting is awesome.

Howie that sounds about right. Put one one a grandson's shotgun last year and believe I sighted it in 35 or 40 yds. Did shoot it at 25yds to check out and it was ok.
I do 40 yards with my stuff. Not sure it is right'er or wrong'er than any other range, but since that is where I pattern my guns, I figured it was a good place to be centered up.

Joe, I understand your frustration with cataracts having them in both eyes and they keep telling me not ready for surgery. Glasses help some but I just make do the best I can for the time being.
Dan.

Dan I have one in my right eye. Crosshairs seem to be clearer when I wear contacts instead of glasses. It’s frustrating to no end. I hope they can get you some relief soon. I’m working with the VA to try and get mine fixed.

I would sight it in at what ever range your shotgun patterns that particular load best. I've seen shotguns that wouldn't send a killing pattern beyond 25 yards and some that are still good 45 yards.
