Wow, happened to stop in at a buddy's house earlier this evening.

Left with 600 Speer jacketed bullets for my .44 mag! Wow! Sometimes ya just gotta grab the good deal when it hits you between the running lights!

That's a good find, congratulations. 600 bullets and a pound of H110 will go a long ways in the 44 Rem Mag.
Did you get 240 grs?

Yup, that would tie me over for quite some time. Never shot many of the 200's in the 44. They would be pretty neat to blow varmints and rocks up with!

I used the 200 for hunting ground hogs and they would turn them inside out
Got a couple 1000 Bull-X 240gr lead cast in the basement that might be sacrificed to make some 185gr 45acp bullets.

Yeah, I'm thinking the 200 JHP's would make good man-stoppers should the need ever arise. Likely do just fine on mule deer as well. I'm really happiest about the 240's though. For decades I've been shooting 240 & 250 grain bullets from various .44's and have always been pleased with the results on paper or on game.

For powder I'm heavy on that sooty old Unique, much lighter on 296, H110 and AA #9.

I'm thinking 600 jacketed .44 bullets will last quite a while, as I usually shoot locally cast 250's from my revolver.

Try some 2400 in the .44 mag., that is the classic old powder. It had a reputation, along with Unique as being dirty. But I have both the new, cleaner burning Unique and some newer 2400, and both are a lot cleaner than they used to be.
I only have a little 296 left over. I was saving it for something?
2400 is a little more versatile in that you can load lighter loads if you wish.

Don't think I've used any 2400 since the 1980's, but you're right, it's a good powder.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I'd like to find some 2400 for my 44's. I had some awhile back but haven't been able to find more in recent times. It was a favorite of EK in his 44's.
