OK guys, my buddy had this one when he was a small boy. It got stolen so I will try to find another one for him as a surprise....if I can!

Description according to him and his memory.

The rifle was a 30-30 single shot falling (?) block. It had a lever (that looked like a lever gun not a #1 type) that activated the falling block. It also had a hammer which had to be cocked manually. it was hinged in the back near the hammer. when you pulled the lever down the front of the block dropped exposing the chamber. it had a shallow groove in the top of the block where the shell would eject. The hammer hit a firing pin that was inside the block. Additionally it had a tube under the bbl for storing extra shells.

This is all I got from his memory 30-40 years ago.

Any ideas?

I think Jimbeaux's rifle is an Ithaca Model 49. It does not look like Ithaca made a .30-30 with that type of action. Still looking---this is interesting!

Had a 49 deluxe as a kid, just like the one n the pic except a lil better front sight, gold hammer and trigger, and checkering, never heard of a 30-30 using that action.

YUP driving me nuts!

He said probably a stevens savage something economical like that...

Saw one just like this but with no tube mag for extra shells. It was a 410 shotgun and I believe it too was an Ithaca though I wouldn't swear to it. What a fix POP!?! You got a lot of gunnys scratching their heads right about now!
