Help me with my trajectory

I used a free ballistic trajectory program called www.eskimo.com. I plugged in all the information. I am shooting a .300RUM with a 165grain ballistic tip bullet and 100gr of RL25 in a 31" barrel. I sight the rifle in at 100 yards and it is dead on, a 3 shot group making one ragged hole. After cleaning the barrel I look at the trajectory program and it says to adjust 9 clicks (1/4 moa) for 300 yards. I shoot a group measuring 1.5" off the mirror of my truck. However the group is about 2 inches to the right and about 4 inches high. I can see it being to the right becuase of a slight wind but I dont see why it is so high. So I back off to 350 yards and adjust the scope a total of 12 clicks. The same exact thing happens only with the group measuring 1.75". Why is it that I am hitting so high. Please give your opinions. I plugged in 3600fps I cannot imagine it being that much higher.

Hence the saying...There is no substitute for real field time. PC's are a good guide but that is it. Just a guide.

Check your gun sight height in your software.
do you know your actual muzzle velocity.

No, I am speculating 3600fps with 165gr with 100gr of RL25 in the 300RUM with a 31" barrel.

I will run quickload for you tonite. We will see an estimate of pressure and velocity.

e-mail me so I remember to run it. if you're interested.

Yah, but hes using a 31" tube. 3500fps is easily doable in a 26" so with 5" more barrel, doesn't sound to bad.

I got 3500-3600 fps but with the 150's in a 26" tube.

In a 31" 3600 with a 165 does not sound out of realm.

Yah I'm just saying, I got 3650fps with the 150g btips out of my 26" tube, so 3600fps w/165g with 5" more barrel is hardly out of wack. THose longer barrels really really help on cases like the RUM's. Cheap velocity!

POP,
Please run the program for me when you have a chance. I wish I had a chronograph but I don't. I will email you to remind you.

Oh! I totally agree! I am thinking of putting a 28-30" on my 30-378 when it "passes on". I am realizing 3330 fps with a factory 26" 110 gr Retumbo and the 200 gr AccuBond. With a 30" I am thinking 3450 or so!

Yah, that would be awesome POP. 30" barrel and shooting the 200g AB in the 300 RUM would give almost 3400fps. That 30-378 weatherby should do that as well. Talk about a long range thumper!!

OK quickload predicts

3647 fps and 74000k psi...

Wow, I am not seeing any sign of too much pressure, even though that is HOT. Thanks for running the program.

Like I said buddy it is a prediction but so far 98% of all my quickload recipes have been 'spot on" at the range.
