Anybody here use 150g bullets out of a 270 and care to share some accurate loads? I have h4831sc, retumbo, and RL-22 for powders. I will also be using a fed 215 primer this time around. Looking for accuracy and 2900fps as well. Thanks.

58 gr of H4831 or rl 22. This has been my standby load for the 270/150....but never with a Sierra...sorry

I was gonna try 58g of h4831sc, but the sierra book lists 56.2g as MAX. I never really go by the book, and I find my own MAX for my rifle, but since I'm using a mag primer this time around, I figured I'd start at 56g and go to 57g. If 57g is looking ok, and the groups are tightening up as my powder weight increases, I will go 57.5, and then 58. I have a little problem with my factory barrel. It does not seem to shoot the tougher jacketed bullets (nosler), as well as the softer type jacketed bullets, (sierra, hornady). From all the loads I've done and told Kirby about, he seems to think my barrel might be ever so slightly oversized, and when the sierra bullets are shot at high pressures, they actually conform to the barrel, noslers do not. Thats the way he explained it to me. So I am pretty much stuck with sierra. I never have liked hornadys and sierras are always accurate. I tried the 150g btip, but it was never as good as the 140g sierra boat tail at 300 yards+. So now I try the 150g sierra because I'm looking to wack a deer at 700-800 with this combo. I might try that RL-22 load. Only thing I dont like about that powder is inconsistent velocities in summer/winter. If the h4831sc dont work out, then I'm sure I'll work with the RL-22 though. Thanks for load info!

Just my two cents......any load I ever tried with Fed 215's or any other Fed primer was not commensurate with accuracy in any of my shooting irons. I won't use 'em.

I on the other hand had great luck with the fed 215M. This is a 300 yard group from my sako 300 RUM and 200 gr Accubonds at 3150 fps. Measures .675" at 300 yds.
