Very cool. Dog and I do about 3.5 - 5 miles most mornings. It's good for both of us.

They don't look spooked. They appear used to bipedal beings being about.

They just kinda trotted up over the hill. The ear notches I think are caused by barb wire. A lot of the deer around the house have the notches as well.
guy if it weren’t for the dogs I would be old, fat, and even slower than I am now. Most days we do what you and dog do. I like getting off trail this time of year and pulling some hills to get ready for hunting.Very cool. Dog and I do about 3.5 - 5 miles most mornings. It's good for both of us.

I’ve been getting in 5 to 7 miles, normally maxing out at 6000 feet almost every day. I look for hikes that offer a few steep grades to get my heart rate up and then undulating terrain to keep it there. I’ll know in late October hunting in Colorado how well I did.
Today we took a break from the Eagle Cap wilderness and took an hour drive over to the North Fork of the John Day wilderness. Started at 6000 got up to 9000 + looking for goats. Found two at long distance and then the lightning started. We bailed off the east side, left the trail and went straight down to about 7500 feet and into the timber. Pretty spooky for a while. All told we covered 8.5 miles/ gained and lost about 3000 feet.

I am blessed to have been raised around them, more so that we live just a few miles from trailheads going into The Eagle Caps. In a little over an hour drive I can be headed into the John Day Wilderness. I am a very lucky man.
