Latest update.

I have not been able to contact Hornady since I received my die parts due to work and their hours. Today I started up again after more research.
This time I used the RCBS mica inside the necks and the Hornady unique on the outside of the cases. All was going well until case #35 got stuck.

This is getting old fast. I've watched everything I can and read all I could while waiting for die parts to show up.

I'm doing everything I see others do on the Youtube videos as far as lubrication but it's not working for me.
The expander keeps getting stuck.

One thing on the videos I can't tell how much pressure people are using on the down stroke to remove the case from the die.
I have to use some force on it. It's nothing like the lack of pressure I use on the universal de capping dies.
I've read not to force it but what is considered forcing it? The case just doesn't fall out of the case it requires some force should it not?
I'm not getting this at all.

After thinking about it I took some advice given here and I measured my once fired cases. The inside neck diameter comes in at .309 or lightly larger on a consistant basis and my brand my Winchester brass that I have resized measures .305 consistently.

It appears this new Hornady dimension die is over working the brass which is causing my issues not being able to get the expander out of the die.
Does this seem correct?
Thanks

You need to check the inside mouth diameter BEFORE passing it over the expander....your id of. 305 is perfect after sizing.
What you should do is take out the expander and size a piece of brass and then measure the Id......I'm guessing it will be around. 299.....if its smaller it would explain the increased effort of pulling it over the expander .
It might be time to buddy up w/a mentor.....got any budies that reload?

Switch to RCBS lube on a Pad. Then on one end of pad create a 1" area of Heavy lube. You then dip case mouth in 1" of heavy lube then roll the case with a Light coat of lube on pad. If you are getting Shoulder Ripples you are over lubing the case. If you get Hard case pull out from die you need more lube inside neck.

I don't have anyone that reloads. It seems quite a bit more complicated than I thought it would be.
If I can't get this figured out I'll stick to factory loads. It might not be worth the headache and the effort.

As an owner of a number of hornady die sets I have to say they are the brand that "usually" sizes the hardest....I wish you'd have spent your money on some good old rcbs! And i wished I could help you in person.
Reloading is actually pretty ez once you get the basics down....unfortunately your rough start is not most likely your fault at all.
If you want to call or discuss more via email pm me...I'll try and get you on track....
Maybe someone will see your location and be willing to help too.
