Just was nerding out on the new Hornady page.

Looks like my has been, sorry excuse for long distance shooting, crushed by Creedmore, 25-06 has less bullet drop at 500 yards than many latest greatest rounds.

25-06 35"
6.5 creedmore 35.9"
6.5 PRC 36.2
280 AI 39.3
300 Win Mag 39.3
338 Lapua Magnum 39.9

I bet some of these start to overtake at greater distance, but for hunting, even Western hunting, going past 500 yards involves a lot of bullet drop no matter what one shoots. Also time to the target and the chance the animal moves after pulling the trigger increases. Kind of refreshing I don't have to go buy a new rifle and round to shoot farther than I am currently skilled to do.

I like the 25-06...love the 25-06...probably my favorite cartridge.

I haven't looked it in a while but I think the difference isn't the drop, it's the energy.

Probably not so much difference at 500 vs 6.5 but the heavier offerings should retain more energy.

I think the 110 AB drops below the 1000 ft/lb at about 550ish and the 130AB out of the 260 at about 600 so for practical purposes, at 400, no difference.
