Finishing my nap first, then my son and I are grabbing our elk & bear tags and our rifles and heading out.

Hot here. Just under 100 degrees, which is very silly for this area, this time of year.

Wish us luck!

I do wish you luck, Guy. We're not quite that hot, but very near it. Suddenly very hot this week. I've put off going out all week for just that reason, knowing that I have more time still.

Hit nearly 100 degrees here today - very unusual for this place and time. Still, my son and I went out this evening, looking for bear and/or cow elk. No such luck, even after the sun set.

Walking back to the truck was hot and nasty after the breeze quit. Saw some bear sign. No recent elk sign. They've got to be hunkered down in the coolest, darkest places. I would be!

Guy, I think the bears are all down lower. We tried to hunt them this week over in the Blues and nothing up high. Heard from farmers they were seeing them in the evenings but all down lower. Go figure. Good to be out though I bet.

Even when its hot, a day in the field with a son is great. You done good.

We were pretty low - but I haven't been able to get permission to hunt the private land down in the bottoms where I'd like to be right now for bear. Not sure about the elk...

Despite the heat, it was good to get out and I wish we could have gone out again this morning, but am tied down with "stuff" to do here at home for now.

I think the timber companies are going to close down their private lands to hunting, until it cools and rains. They usually do that in dry/hot weather. I don't blame them at all, timber is their resource, and fire is their enemy.
