Hunting Season Workout

Well I am back from my first Elk session and a week without any real workout is tough :( I really feel stiff & sore. I am trying to keep the stretches up but it is not the same. I was hoping that I would be able to get in one tomorrow afternoon but with leaving again Monday first thing it is almost impossible as I have some work related think I must get done as well.
Well one good thing I didn't have any weight gain !
Keep up the good work guys as it is good to hear that we are still trying!!!

Blessings,
Dan

Just did 20 miles on the bike this morning on my trainer...can't get outside...I'm Mr. Mom till Monday. And it's "deload" week on my lifting, but I'm seeing good gains and some weight is dropping off again after about a 9 month standstill on weight loss.

Only problem is I strained either my hamstring or IT Band on my right leg a couple weeks ago. I was running on the treadmill and went a little too hard. I was smart enough to stop when it kept tightening up. Stretching helps, and it usually feels normal, but if I am not careful when I deadlift, it locks up again. Did it again last week with stiff back/leg deadlifts. Was trying to finish out the last set, second last rep. Pushed it a little too fast and zing!

Stretching and easing into activity help. Today it feels pretty good.

Biggest issue with my deadlifts is my lifting capacity as outstripped my grip strength. Either need to get straps or develop grip better.

All in all, I should be ready for those grueling 1/4-1/2 mile hikes to treestands, lol.

In all seriousness, though, sometimes I'm pressed for time and some of the hills aren't insignificant, so it helps being more fit so I'm not winded if I can't go very slowly to the stand. Also helps me get through the "extraction" when Dad drops a deer in some nasty thorn patch....

Yeah, I've thought of that. I guess I'll try it. I go to a switched/mixed grip at about 260lbs or so, and my current 1RM is at 335, but I haven't checked it for a while. Not a huge DL weight by any means, but enough that my grip is starting to be the weak point when doing reps.

If you want to up your grip strength - www.gripboard.com - some crazy strong dudes on there. I've been a member there for about 300 years.

When I did deads I switched to a 2" bar and stayed with a standard grip.

Pull up are excellent exercises for increasing your grip as well. They are also very good at developing your back and arms.

300 years?

Good god man!
You must be the one that taught Moses how to lift. I guess you're the living example that an active and fit body lives longer. [emoji4]

Last Friday I went for my yearly check up and had my ECG & strength test doctor was happy and he asked if I could do a stress test. I told him that I did not bring runners, he stated I could get on the treadmill barefooted.
I was on the treadmill for about 12 minutes and actual ran for about 6 minutes:) the whole time I was advised I was doing great, I was 88% but my feet were burning from the tread so they stated that was good. I got off and was asked if I wanted to sit down for the recovery time or to stay standing, I picked standing. About 1 minute into the recovery the lab person advised me to sit down and she called the Cardiologist and he looked at the sheet. He then advised me that they found something in the recovery stage in the left side of my heart . I then asked him what and he could not give me a answer he advised that I would have to do a test where I get a injection and then do the stress test and then they place me in a cone and shoot rapid photographs of my heart, he then stated I may need another angiogram.
Well today my own cardiologist called and advised that they are going straight to the angiogram and I go into the hospital tomorrow for the consultation and then the angiogram will be done next week.
I still have not felt a pain or any difference. In fact I feel the best I have in 30 years!!
So guys & gals I am asking for those who pray to lift me as I need a healing touch for our Lord.

Blessings,
Dan

Glad the physicians caught that Dan. Unpleasant in many respects, but they were on the ball. I do pray God's goodness and grace to continue for you.

Prayers up Dan.
You're in great hands, far better than any mortal hands. It is his hands that will guide your caregivers.

Well guys, I am in the hospital. Test revealed that I have multiple blockages & they are not letting me out of the hospital until after Bypass surgery. I was advised that it will be 3 or 4 for sure but could be up to 8.
Surgery is booked for next Tuesday or Wednesday.
My wife & I met the surgeon & feel very comfortable in our decision.
Believing that the Lord still has some work for me here on the earth .
Got get Er done for next fall's DrMike's Moose hunt.
Prayer are gladly accepted:)!!

Blessings,
Dan

Done and will continue to do. Get well soon, there are critters to chase.

I pray God's goodness and grace to be extended to you, Dan. So grateful for the physicians and surgeons we have today.

Well the nurses & staff are absolutely great. I am going into my own room here in just a few minutes. I know people have lots of concerns about public health care. But from my experience it has been nothing but top notch!!!
Will try to keep all informed!!

Blessings,
Dan
