I am getting more and more excited for spring turkey hunting every day. This year, I am going to try calling in a bird with just a trumpet call. I have had one for almost a year and just picked up a new one this weekend.
The one on the left is rosewood and was made by Brian Mero from Eau Claire, WI. He has won numerous awards and won the top trumpet call this weekend at the NWTF convention. The one on the right is buckeye burl and was made by Joe Slaton of Linden, CA. Joe won the gobbling championship this weekend in Nashville. With two great call makers, it makes it easier to get a turkey sound out of these calls. After a year of practice, I feel confident that I can bring an old tom to the gun this spring.
