I accidentally bought 180-grain Protected Point Partitions...

I am not at all concerned that they won't work, but I AM wondering if they'll load just like the regular Partitions will. It would be nice to be able to just use the same powder charge I've always used when loading for my .30-06 with Re16 and H4350 (I played with H4831 once as well, and it was outstanding so I ain't forgetting about that!) and preserve my precious stash of primers.

Is there a consensus on loading PPs?

You should be fine, it's just the exposed lead tip that's different. You can use the same load but you might need to make a slight scope adjustment for an absolute zero.

I sight in dead-on at 200 yards for all my centerfires and it will be interesting to see what the difference will be at that range. Based on what you're saying I doubt I'll even need to touch the turrets but I'll do whatever I have to do. Where I hunt a shot over 200 yards is not very likely.

The 180 PP was designed for the 300 Win Mag so it would meet the COAL and fit into the magazine without seating past the ogive.
