I am an official 35 Whelen owner!!!

Good job WT, welcome to the Whelen clan  it took a little time but I am glad you found exactly what you wanted. They are a joy to load for and they are definitely a game stopper. I am looking forward to a range report.

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks for info. I looking for a new mag to try. I hope that cures the feeding issue. I will also look into the Lee factory crimp die. They are effective and easy to use.

My hope it to get rings and bases in the near future and to give it a test run soon.

It's usually the magazines when the remington pumps and autos have feeding issues

I hit the two local stores in town and they did not have any magazines. I will be heading to the big box store next weekend so I can grab one there to try.

Did someone shorten the barrel or is it a factory carbine? They are nice guns, keep the chamber clean and it with extract flawlessly wish I could have gotten my original 7600 35 Whelen back :(

Someone shortened the barrel and then recrowned it. I am in the process of cleaning it right now. I have sprayed Wipe-Out down the barrel 6 times and hit it with a brush a few times and I am still getting a nice blue when I push a patch through. I hope I can get this rifle up and running. I know everyone here is pulling for me. I hope to do my best guys.

Sounds like someone didn't clean it too well, there may be a pristine barrel under that fouling :) It should be a fun project for you to work on.

You could try polishing with JB bore paste to speed things up a little.

That's what I use to clean mine when it's in need of an end of season cleaning.

I am with the others, JB's or Iosso with a patch and some Kroil seem to cut through the crap much quicker. Should get you down to metal pretty quickly.

...mixing Wipe-Out & a brass brush will give you a false "positive"...

Wildgene, I hear what you are saying, but it is not a false "positive", it is just that dirty. I used the brush with the #9 then patched it out and went with the foam.

WT, I use nothing but Wipeout in the rifles I clean. Put in the foam & then let it sit over night. I use good quality nylon brushes & this seems to work for me.

Blessings,
Dan

Well, I just ordered a few things for the Whelen. A new mag, scope base, rings, 1000 patches, 3 brushes and some IOSSO.

I hope cleaning it with IOSSO will get it looking better and the new mag solves the feeding issues.
