READY TO HUNT!

READY TO HUNT!

I am so ready to go hunting this season, I can't wait and four things are essential for me. My rifle, my loads, my side arm and my skinning knife. Everything else just seems to fall in place if I remember these items when leaving for the field (of course some food and water).

Will have my 30-06 and my special load, the 150gr GS HV moving 3086fps along with my side arm and my Benchmade skinning knife (in hunters orange so when I lay it down working I can find it easily). Hope you like the pictures and they put you in the mood.

Our archery season starts on sunday in some WMU's with rifle season in the Green Zones on Sept.1 and others zones by Sept.17 here in northern Alberta. Not that I have time to get out early like I use to when a guy was young and single!!

5 weeks from now I will be at Moose Camp with our group having 4 bull tags, me one of them.

CANT WAIT !! Sako m75ss 300WM with my reloads of 180gr Accubonds.

That sounds awesome man, good luck

I have about 5.75 long months before my elk hunt. :( Probably for the best as I have one more eye awaiting catact surgery. (/12/13 can't get here soon enough. The doc gave me the final check out on my left eye and it's A-OK to go huntig. Not one more and I'll be good to go. My wife had hers done about a year ago and wishes she'd done it sooner. Maybe now I just might be able to use iron sight once in a while. As it is now I cannot see the front sight. Not a lefty but tried to check out the sight shortly after the first eye was done and it looks promising. 8)
1/9/14 hurry up and get hee so I can harass an elk or two.

bullet,
That 30-06 looks amazing, love it buddy. Your loads look awesome as well. I believe the Deer are in SERIOUS TROUBLE this year with that load.

Might I say, "Deer just tremble at the mention of your name" knowing the 150 will put the smack down on them. Good luck hunting this year looking forward to your pics and report.

Right now i'm very much in the mood to go hunting.... just wish the game I want was in season

coyotes have been very active and calling quite a bit the past few nights but for some reason season doesn't open until Oct 1st. Nice cool evening, almost full moon, would be a great night to go out with my brother-in-law while he is in town and see what we could call in

Yes, coyote hunting can be and is fun. Good off season hunting for me is coyotes.

I'm in the early stages of getting ready to hunt and as always in the Mood 24/7. I will be setting some new tree stands this week-end and putting out the trail cams.

Getting the 300 RUM ready also to head to the range soon, going to try out the 200 AB load I developed at 400 & 500 yards at the Hunt club I belong to. They just clear cut some pines in some rolling hills that present a perfect set up to shoot longer ranges. Just perfect before I head to Colorado for Elk.

As the season approaches the more I'm ready to hunt. Our early Canada goose season opens Sept 1st. I've been shooting my bow when time allows for deer season and I've got loads worked up for the two rifles I'll be using if given the chance.

I'm ready too even though I shot a elk already. It was such a short hunt I almost feel like I got shorted. Oh well when I grab a package of elk steak/burger out of the fridge I'll know it was worth it :). This will be the first year that I can remember missing the opening day of dove season as I'll be at a wedding in Canada  . The wife has two sisters that will get married in the next few years and they better not pick hunting season to do it or I won't be able to attend. Deer season is 45 days away but there are a few bird hunts opening between now and then to tide me over.

Congrats on the elk IdahoCTD !!

I got married in the mid-late Sept 2005, thinking I could get the honeymoon in and still get to moose camp......NOT!!! Wife said if I can go to moose camp with days off still, we could have a longer honeymoon.

I wont complain, as the last part of the honeymoon we went salmon fishing. We got back the night before my friends were going to be pulling out camp and I thought I could get out for the night (about an hours drive to camp), but upon arriving home that evening around 10pm, my truck had a flat tire...it was like it was planned.....lol. Guess that's what you get for a fall wedding being planned!!!

I shouldn't joke, my wife is good about it (hunting) and I get away for 6-7 days in October for the annual moose camp with my friends. The year I missed was the 1st time in the now past 23 years hunting with my best friend. We have more friends out now in the past 8-10 years...guys we only see 1-2 times a year).

This year I started my fire season on July 7th. I just finished up with 47 total days. I always sleep and rest for a few days before I get my energy back. Archery deer starts in my back yard in a couple of days. I am in the process of building a walk in cooler and it will be a few more days until it and I am ready.
