Did you toss the stock or save it, Mike? It may be that the chunk could be pinned in and glassed back to stable, and then you're right back in the lumber you like. Do you have any pics of the wood stock and the damage? Or did you toss it out?

dubyam, I tossed the stock.

Bullet,
If I were in your shoes I may have tossed it at the drill press a few times.
You mignt get lucky and find one on gunbroker or other auction sites. Some people would rather have plastic than wood.

I want to first thank all of you for your comments and help. The Ram-Line stock will not due. First it does not feel good in my hands, is to heavy, the felt recoil is a least 15% greater than the original Ruger stock and most of all the rifle does not shoot well with this stock.

I have wasted 107.00 including tax and shipping. I did call Ruger and they were very nice and helpful and said if I give them the serial number of my rifle they can sell me a wooden stock that was produced at the same time my rifle was. It will cost me 275.00 not including tax and shipping. I will be saving up for this stock.

I will not be using my 30-06 this coming fall due to a hunt I have already planned in Arizona in the first two weeks of Oct and I can't spare the money at this time. But I will save up for it and get the stock. My 358Win will have to pull the duty and that means I will have to hunt harder and get closer on my bear hunt this fall. But that will be fun. I am doing full body work out three times a week while doing steps on two days a week while running also three days a week getting in shape.

Once again thank you for your help.

bullet,

Glad to hear that Ruger is willing to help you out.

Since you are not going to use the 30-06, put the Ram-Line stock up for sale and recoup some of the money.
Glad to have you back buddy.

Also, if you're saving up, you might consider one of these, though it's more than the $275 for the factory stock:

http://www.accurateinnovations.com/ruge ... stock.html

It would run you about $550-600, but it's a great looking stock, with the full length aluminum bedding block. I know that's a lot of coin (and I feel your pain, brother) but it's just a thought.

Take care, ebay the Ramline, and quit throwing things away!

Dubyam,

Those are great looking stocks. It is well within line for a semi-custom stock, and they are attractive. The bedding is very attractive.
