I want an oddball Lever

I have always had an unmet need for a .38-55 in a Model 94. I don't know why I have wanted one of these for a lonegish time but I have?

Fotis. I just listed a Marlin 1895 XLR in 444 on 24 Campfire. Less $25 for a Nosler forum member

444 won't be oddball enough for Fotis; he's had 'em. Still, a great cartridge that works very well. If Scotty weren't lost in the wilds of Idaho, I bet he'd be interested.

Nice Fotis.

I just returned from ID and the Whelen did the job for me.

After I bought the 444 XLR, I stumbled across a standard gov't 45-70. While it has a cross bolt safety, I can O-ring it while hunting.

Cheers

Good to hear man What did you get?

Fotis, my uncle collects old firearms and has several lever actions. The two old ones that stood out n my mind were

an 1873 44 cal with an octagonal barrel , and an 1873 Musket that has the bayonet with it . I was thinking the old lever action musket might be one you dont have, if your looking for something different

Maybe A will be around. I know her husband has like 20 to 25 lever actions he has collected over the years, maybe he will know of something VERY rare and unusual.

Fotis, take a look at the Wild West guns, in anchorage and las vegas. they make a couple of out of ordinary calibers that might interest you. ( yes, Scotty, we did get one of them LOL )

I had a shot at one BUT it was a 30 Carbine. No use for that one.

I'd love to find one of those at a reasonable price. It'd go great with my Ruger old model .30 carbine handgun. I call it my poor man's 32-20. 8)
I did snag a Browning 1895 in 30-06 a few years back. I alays planne on having it rebored to .35 Whelen but just haven't gotten around to getting it done. Too many projects and not enough time and money.

Sean, good for you. I also want to get one of their 457 W/W mag. Alaskan Co-Pilot takedown version.

Fotis, this is not in everyones gun cabinet and a damn well made rifle. The one Sean has and the one I want is a 457 Wild West Magnum lever action that can also use the 45/70 bullets. They also make a 50 caliber if you really want something different, something and something that can be used in the mountains ( as opposed to a rare collectable that you only hold with gloves and over carpet LOL )

Fotis or Sean or anybody---wasnt the 1873 winchester musket Sean has made for the military and has a very long barrel ? What size round did they shoot ?

I think I will try to find a reasonably priced 348 Win.....

I was just gonna suggest a 71.....

Mine is a Browning Carbine from 87 but it shoots great and I bought it last hear NIB for just over 1K.

Cant wait to try it on Missouri whitetails this year.. in about 3 weeks :)

I'm with guy, you need the 50 from big horn! Remember, there is no replacement for displacement!

Unfortunately it will also displace the heck out of my funds.
