Shot this 5 x 5 bull last month in the Salmon unit in Idaho.

Hiking down a forested rdige line and there he was grazing on some bushes. Only about 40 yds away.

35 Whelen with 225 gr AccuBond. about 2550 fps.

The bullet hit a rib going in, basically cut the ventricles in two, then total destroyed the offside shoulder. Found the bullet under the hide beneath the should joint it destroyed.
The bull went about 30 yards down hill and piled up.

Eric, that is a great recovery. Man, it is awesome to hear of the Whelen getting so much good press around here! That is awesome stuff. Almost makes me feel bad I left my Whelen at home this Fall!

Without a doubt!

Congratulations on the great looking bull. Nicely done by the AccuBond and the 35 Whelen! They always look (read are) so big laying there when you get up to them. Seems like they always find a steep slope to keep things interesting too!

That is a great looking bull, congratulations. The accubonds seem to be doing quite a number this season.

Eric,
Great story and Congrats on the nice Bull. I shoot the same load in my Whelen it is quite the Gun too. I like mine so much I may re-barrel my 30-06 to a Whelen, that will give me two then.
