My dad and I drew a cow elk and doe antelope. I'm surprised I didn't draw a extra deer tag. The wife didn't draw squat. I told her I'm going to have to replace her with someone that could draw a tag  . I guess I shouldn't put her in for stuff with single digit drawing odds. She wasn't that heart broken.

You want to be careful about threatening to trade in a good woman. The next might be a real problem. I figure after all these years of learning to tolerate one another, I don't want to start all over. Congratulations on the cow elk and the doe antelope. Are antelope plentiful in Idaho? I guess I don't think of hunting them there that much, but in the southern portion of the state, the habitat would be good for them.

There is only about half the number of tags here that there was in '89 when I moved here. At that time there were 3400 tags. Now it's around 17-1800. Bow tags are basically unlimited but the rifle and muzzle loader tags are drawing only. The furthest north we see antelope is around Salmon near the Montana border in central Idaho. I drew for unit 45 which happens to be about 45 minutes from here near Mountain Home. It was a new hunt this year for does as the herd has been growing a lot the last few years. The buck tags are about 1 in 28 chances of drawing.

where is your elk tag if you don't mind me asking? Always has been a lot of goats between the Stage Stop and Mt Home. I did not apply for a permit, I am going to a secret spot north of Boise, if I told you where, (well you know). Hope you have a great hunt.

I doubt there are many secret spots north of Boise unless you go way north and a little east. I drew up near Montana in a secret spot too :) (It's a spot a friend of mine took me to last year so it won't go out in public). Last year I saw about 350-400 elk by the time I shot mine at 11am the first morning I hunted. Unit 45 is actually past Mountain Home and north of the highway. Unit 39 is between Boise and Mountain Home north of the highway. Both are 1 in 25 chance of drawing or lower.

BTW I shot a 5 point bull a few years back in a place north east of Boise that most people don't think to look for elk. I went up looking for deer in deer season and stumbled on a fairly large group of elk.

I did not have my regs in the house. I have seen many in that area also, I used to hut picket pins in that area between the Mt. Home dump and the foot hills. We would see goats in their frequently, of course that was earlier in the year. again good luck

My wife drew the late cow elk which is a fun meat hunt in 8A. She also got a extra doe tag. Me just extra doe tag.
My son has been up in Hells Canyon bass fishing so I dont know what he got yet.

Congratulations, Teknys. Trust you and your wife have an great hunt this year. We'll all look forward to the pictures.
