IMR 4350 was always my go to powder. IMR 4064 would also be a good powder to look at.

YUP!

'06 not liking 4350 is like a fat chick that won't eat cake.....

I'm going to use that.
I just hope no fat chics are around when I say it.

Fotis- That had me cracking up! But its true, the 06 does like 4350.

If H4350 doesn't work, you should send all of it to me immediately for disposal.

My old ruger likes 4350, but 4064 is what got me under a quarter inch. Rl 22 for the 180.

I have heard that a few times that 4064 and the 165 in a 30-06 is pretty magical.. Someday I'll own a 30-06 just to see if any of this stuff is true! HA!

Now that is a surprise. I'm not sure why I'm surprised, could be I just put the dogs out and haven't had my coffee.

Don't be rash, Scotty.

A nice Remington CDL or maybe a Sako of some kind would be great Scotty :) A BLR 30-06 would be pretty sweet too.

I think he should get Dylan a 30-06 so she could have a bigger gun than her Brother. And maybe she could show her dad how a good old decrypted 30-06 can still stand muster.
Scotty,I have a spare I might lone you so you can find out just how good they can be.

All in due time. It's one of the ones I'd like to have in the future, just no burning desire right now. If the right Pre64 were to come across my mitts for the right price, I'd probably cave..

I wonder what's taken you this long!

I use IMR-4350 with the 165-168gr bullets. 58.8grs bullet 10-15 thou off the lands, WLR or Fed 210M.rICK.

Well I was able to shoot the 06 this morning it did not get any better.

60.5-1.100
61.0-2.332
61.5-1.497

So far the best group has been .953 with this rifle. I have 9 other 3 shot group and they all are in that 1.5-2.00" group with an outlier of .953 and 2.968.

I think I am going to try the IMR4350 this week. I hope to get to the range Wednesday after work.

Well, I was looking at my manuals and Scotty's quick load info and quick load is about 3 grains heavier than the Nosler book. I know every rifle is different and you have to work up. My plan was to use 57gr/58.5gr/60gr to start out with. I would shoot from lowest to highest and if I see signs I would back off.

What 3 charges would you take to the range?

I think that's a good plan WT. .010" might be a touch close but it should give you some useful data.

Quick question, why can't I PM members or start a new post? Using quick reply is the only way to communicate for me right now on the forum????

IMR 4350 and the '06 were made for each other

I have not shot a lot of 165gr's out of my '06, but I can not beat the IMR4350 and currently H4350 with a 5 shot grouping under .75" with 180gr NP. Never had the need to change from these powders.
