I'm in South Carolina touring the state to see if this is a place I would like to live and. Having the wife with me I really haven't been able to check out the gun shops but have seen a few in my traveling. One indoor range between Charleston SC and Savannah GA on US 17 and a sign along the road that said shoot machine guns. Actually it was a billboard advertising shooting machine guns.
I could be persuaded to relocate to South Carolina with that kind of advertising.  (y)

Love full auto, for years I was the only certified Mp-5/sub gun instructor in our department. Dang that was tough work, keeping my proficiency up, but for the good of the order I did.
Never been to that part of the country, good luck on your quest, stop in at that range and relieve the stress from driving.

SC would have some advantages that MD can't offer. Hope you find the intel you're looking for.

SC or anti-gun Maryland? I'd be in SC in a half a heartbeat!

Ya, full auto is fun... (y)

Yeah I know about full auto also, carried an m60 while on duty for a while and the m16 which I burnt a few barrels up on. One road outside of Charleston SC is called rifle range road. The climate sounds like it would be more to my liking around the Greenville SC area, away from the low country and the big winds that come up the coast and out of the Atlantic. Plus it would be away from the tourist, been dealing with them all week and don't think I could handle it all the time. ( lol )

The only drawback is all the poisoness snakes that are here that I'm not use to dealing with.
There are 3 types of rattlesnakes, cotton mouths and copper heads. The pigmy rattlesnakes would worry me more than the canebreak or diamond back. Playing in the Marsh can be hazardous to your health along with the pine forest. But I would likely move to the foothills of the Blue ridge Mt . You can't turn a hillbilly into a flat lander .

SC sounds like a good move. You can't beat the deer hunting and the bag limits are pretty danged good if you get in with a good club.

Other than rats and mice, those snakes don't eat much, Rodger. I admit, however, that the absence of snakes here in the Great White North doesn't hurt my feelings. My grandchildren are somewhat cautious whenever we go afield, however. I've warned them about the copper-mouth, rattle-headed moccasins and ice snakes--so deadly that anyone bitten by them is never found.

It's looking better the more I talk to the locals . I am
Looking at the northern part of the state and hopefully I will only have to deal with the diamond back and copper heads unless I go down along the coast where it is warmer. But it will take a while to get everything done.

1900 miles round trip and I'm home. Stopped over in Statesville NC so the wife could play horseshoes and she placed second in her class. We still had some daylight left so we road up to Ashville NC to see what was there and have dinner. Left Statesville Sunday mourning and head on home but first we had to check out one of the remaining covered bridges in NC, we just love the old architecture and the way they were assembled with wood pegs. Since we would pass by Mt Airy NC we decided to check out where Andy Griffith was born and grew up plus the show was based on the town of Mt Airy. Might be another area for relocation more to my liking.
