Interesting RL 17 article

Even adjusting the Pmax to 65k psi, that seems like a pretty stiff charge. What sort of case life do you get with that charge?

I am on my 9th loading with remington brass. I neck sized with Lee collet dies 7 times before FL sizing was required for chambering. I have not had a loose primer pocket yet on any of the brass. I am using CCI200 match primers.

Since this powder seems to be magic in an '06, I was wondeing if anyone has tryed any in the 270 win, with either 130 or 140 gr bullets.

Woods,

Just reviewing the pictures of the results with your 30-06. Those loads are very good indeed. It does stimulate me to look again at the 30-06. Generally, I've focused on lighter bullets in my '06 (150-168 grains), reserving the heavier bullets for my 300 WSM. However, those results are very promising.

In using RL-17 with 150gr NBTs I started out with 56gr and worked up to the book max of 59gr. The book max load was pretty mild in my M70 Win .30-06 & Savage Tact and I started going further in 1/2gr increments until I reached 61.5gr where I stopped. I admit that I was getting fearful but there were no over pressure signs in the new brass (RP) I had loaded. I ran a five shot gp over my Chrony and I will swear in any court the average fps was 3181fps! The same load in my Savage Tact w/24” barrel yielded an average of 3333fps in another 5 shot gp. The down side of this is that I only got 2 more reloadings from these cases.

Happy Shooting
