Just got my first hunting rifle.

I just got home from Sportsman's Warehouse where I bought a Remington 700 in .300 Win Mag. I'm really excited about this gun! This is the first rifle I bought with the intent of hunting with it (Not saying I can't hunt with the others!). It's going to be topped off with a Horus Vision Hawk 3-12x50.

Congratulations. The 300 WM is a great cartridge that will handle just about anything in North America, and much of the game in Africa.

The .300 Win Mag was the easy choice after shooting the Accuracy International .300 Win Mag Arctic Warfare Rifle System one day at work. The ability to reach out over 1km and touching a man sized target is pretty appealing.

Great choice in the 300WM! Awesome cartridge. Kinda the 30-06 of of the new Century! It just does everything really well. Looking forward to seeing how it shoots for you. Again, great choice in cartridge. Very versatile and you cannot beat the amount of data available for it. Scotty

Should prove to be a good, solid hunting rifle. You've got enough cartridge there for any big game in North America, and for most around the world. I always got best results from a .300 Win mag by using quality 180 or 200 grain bullets.

Am not a real fan of the Horus scopes, but a buddy of mine certainly is. He uses them primarily for prairie dog shooting, and they work out pretty well for him.

So after having this rifle for a week. My wife decided that she was mad at me because I didn't get her one. So today we went out and got another Remington 700 in .308 Winchester so now we're square until my double stack 1911 gets in.

I just love a happy ending. For a short while (until the 1911 arrives), it'll be peace and harmony on the home front. It can't get much better than that.
