Dad just sent 40 pieces of Lapua brass for my son's .260. I typically use Winchester brass and always resize as a first step. The Lapua brass was annealed from the factory, and I believe resized as well. Should I run this brass through the sizing die prior to loading? Being a vienna sausage kinda guy I feel like I've been handed a plate of caviar- really not sure which fork to use  Thanks in advance.

HC- your anology about the sausages vs caviar is exactly how I would feel. I know the Nosler brass comes ready to go, I would bet the Lapua is better yet. I am sure the smart guys will know for sure though. Scotty

I don't size Lapua (or Norma) brass from the box. I do inspect the neck, using a Sinclair expander mandrel to smooth out any anomalies. Then, they are ready to chamfer. I used to try to true the primer pocket and deburr the flashhole on both Lapua and Norma brass, but since they are drilled and not punched, I found that I was spending time addressing a non-existent problem.

I'd set my sizer up in the press enough so you have NO possibility of touching the neck, and make sure the neck was round, nothing else. Maybe mic a couple for length.

Run them through your neck sizer die if you own one. If not go ahead and run them through your full length die halfway, just to iron out kinks and dents. You can then chamfer and deburr the neck afterwards.

Highcotton, all brass is annealed at the factory. Lapua doesn't clean the discoloration, Winchester doesn't clean it from their 458 WM cases.Rick.
