Actually the thread said thumpers so I kept it as such.

My non-thumping Bees consist of a Ultra light weight 257 Bee

Fotis,

Let me know when you sell this rifle, I am first in line!

Those sound like some serious rifles IdahoCTD! I would like one of the 358's in order to really hurl the 250gr PT out around 2900. That would be a serious rifle for elk hunting. Long legs and alot of mass. Scotty

.358 STA's will shoot 250's over 3000fps or at least mine would

Wow that is insane speed for a 250 Partition I can't invision shooting one off the bench  but I can see it laying waste to big critters a long ways out.

My 338 RUM pushes the 250 ge PT at 3024 fps. With a BC of .473, it is a long range hammer.

Good Golly Miss Molly - that's one heck of a rifle. The seller knows it too, he used a whole doggone roll of digi film documenting that gorgeous stock and classic Winchester stainless steel... Wow...

Oh and Scottie.......Who loves you?

I've seen this for sale for awhile now. What a rifle. It is really a dream rifle. Can you just buy a magnum length M70 action and build your own?

Charlie/Jim. I like your 338's as well. The 338 RUM and 340 are two very awesome cartridges but I just like the 358 caliber more. I know it's BC isn't as good or SD with similar bullets but I like the big 35's! I have a 338WM and love it and would like a 338 Lapua for long range shooting but for hunting big stuff, nothing get me more than the 35's. Just a nut I guess. For now I will suffer with my 35 Whelen, 358 Winchester and 35 Remington! See the little trend?

Fotis,

That is one sweet looking rifle. It could get me going toward some thumpers.

And you could do it for less.

Granted I can do it for parts. The gunsmithing is free for me  . So it's even cheaper.

So to revive an old thread I will comment on the season my newly aquired Whelen had. Total tally 9 deer with 9 shots , me personally 4 deer out of 6 tags. Two of my hunting buddies wanted to use her after seeing what that 225 AB does to critters so they combined for 5 more. One ok mule buck and the rest doe's 3 whitetails and one mule. I missed a huge Whitetail buck last weekend would have been my best ever and had to settle for a very tender and juicy spike buck in the last few minuets of my last day hunting. Alas it was with my 280 and not with the whelen.

Do I like the whelen? hell yes! do my hunting buddies like the whelen? hell yes! I am going to have a moose tag next season guess which rifle is going to get the call? Putting my 300 WM away next season when it is time to head for moose country. Well time to throw some mule buck steaks on the grill life is good!

All this .358 talk is getting me all turned on about a 358-338 WM (basically a 358 Norma I think)! Would make for one heck of an oregon elk gun!

9 deer with 9 shots thats great :) your 225 gr Ab 35 Whelen load will work great on moose and elk too.

Question for you guys who know Rugers better than I... did Ruger offer a Hawkeye All Weather in the Whelen?
