I am thinking of sending my VX-3 4.4-14x40mm Adj. Objective to the custom shop to get turrets installed.

Question: Do they make anything lower profile than the Target turrets or the M-1 dials? They work well but they are big and bulky. Not interested in the CDS due to the use of multiple loads.

Thank you.

Fotis,

Call the Leupold custom shop.
You can get a CDS dial with plain MOA on the dial. Depending on what you are shooting, you should be able to get out to 600-800 yds on a single rotation. FWIW, I just got my custom CDS dial set up for my 280 AI, 140 gr AB at 3150 fps, 3000' elevation at 59*F at 200 yd zero. I can get over 750 yds on a single spin.

That is what I am going to do. I will get 2 (MOA) elevation dials. One with the zero stop that limits to one complete revolution and one without the zero stop that allows you to go past 14 MOA for over 1K target work.

Jim: How long did it take?

Not long at all, ordered it on 6/2 and it arrived 6/20!

It is out tomorrow then! It will be getting turret surgery in preparation of Ms. 378 Bee's return!

A .378 w/target turrets?

Elk, start running NOW!

Wow, Elk, dino's, moose and anything else that has bones and muscle in abundance! Scotty

Oh yeah baby...with a secret weapon in my pocket that will make all the diff!

You guys will have to let me know how these work out for you. I have been debating this for a while for my 280 AI. I don't like the idea of being tied to one load, but it is way nicer than having two or three different ones to worry about all the time I guess.

Keep me posted please.

I have only shot the .378 a few rounds, a long time ago but I was impressed! Any cartridge that can throw a 270 gr Nosler at about 3000 fps has my undivided attention. I also am aware that this caliber has been and still is a very popular caliber for Weatherby. Not approaching the .257, .300 and .340 in sales but getting up there for all those folks who wan to shoot at 1000 yards or more.

The caliber, along with the .338 Lapua seems to be the caliber of choice for really long range hunting. Proably not for me. I am perfectly happy with my .340 Bee but if I was going to hunt game over 600 yards, I would seriosly consider this caliber. Besides, that is one nice rifle, Fotis.

Here are some more pictures of her prior to surgery.

I am always struck by the elaborate work on the stock of those high end Weatherbys.

Truly a piece of art! Looking forward to a range report.

Fotis for as long as you have been doing this you could use open sights and knock down a good one :)
It is fun getting new toys those.

Blessings,
Dan

I will be using my 32 win special for deer this year. It is a 1959 vintage and no scope.

Now that is COOL Fotis! I am going to run my 35 Rem and 30-30 in the deer woods as well. Need to get a little more range time with them, but it should really be fun. I am looking forward to it. Scotty

Whoa, it was a little jarring when I hit the 'read first unread post' button and it kicked me to this on a tread about Leupy turrets!

I love the way threads wander here!
