I'm looking at buying a new scope for my rifle i'm having a hard time trying to decide on one or they other. The 2 i like are the leupold VX-1 4-12-40 or the VX-2 3-9-40. Both are about the same price just wonding if there are any huge differences between the 2, besides the obvious. Is there a big differnce between the VX 1 and the VX 2 in quality. Thankx for any info.

I think you would be wise to get the vx 2, the quality should be better. I think the vx 1 was brought out to compete with a lot of the lower priced scopes.

+1

Buy the best you can afford, you will be much happier in the long run.
Consider the VXIII 2.5x8 and 3.5x10 scopes as well. They will offer you a sight picture in very low light conditions. This could make the difference in taking home a trophy animal.
There are places where you can get some great deals on scopes.

You will be much happeir with the eye relief and the clarity on the vx-II compared to the vx-I.
The zeiss conquest in 3x9x40 is very close in price to the vx-II.
The zeiss also has good eye relief along with good glass.
Leupold is made in the US and is a very nice product.
:? :? :?

I have a couple of VX-I scopes and am very happy with them. I do like the VX-II more but could not afford the extra money at the time and really needed the glass then.

The VX-II has the positive clicks for adjustments and the VX-I does not. Comparing a VX-II and a VX-I at the range the other week I could see some differnces in clarity but not alot.
