Wanted a compact, lightweight rifle for hog hunting, something very maneuverable from inside side by side, and shooting blinds. I started by picking 6.5 Grendel because it’s effective and I already have all the reloading tools for it. It’s an SBR, so had to get ATF approval. I read all the nightmares about getting approved, but I found it simple. Just completed the e-form, and had my fingerprints electronically scanned at PrintScan (inside a UPS store). Attached the fingerprint file, images of the lower, and passport photo to the e-form and submitted. 6 days later I got the approval email. Shedding weight were possible, I used a polymer lower, skeletonized grip, MDT minimalist stock, 12” barrel and ultralight hand guard. The barrel is ballistic advantage, trigger is a Rise Armament drop in. Went with a side-charging upper. The flash hider is a Strike Industries Venom. is Being an NFA rifle, I had to had the my name, city, state and cal engraved. Flat fee for engraving, so I added the logo and text. Then color filled it with orange. Weighs in at 5.2 lbs with 10 rd mag and no optic. 27.25” total length. I want to use the 100 Partition, but can’t find them, so will start out with a 100 Barnes. Compared to my daughters 18”, I’m only loosing between 95 and 110 fps with the 12” barrel and 123 SST. Will be topped with a night vision optic.IMG_2123.jpeg
